Delta Airlines Flight Takes Emergency Landing In Manchester

A Delta Airlines flight DL138 on its way from Detroit, bound for Amsterdam, was diverted to Manchester over reports of smoke in the cabin on Sunday afternoon.

The Boeing 767-432 was met by fire crews on ground in Manchester after it made the emergency landing.

After a short wait on the tarmac, the aircraft was able to take-off and continue to the Netherlands.

It’s understood the alert from the captain had been the ‘lowest’ possible and fire crews had met the flight as a precaution.

A Delta spokeswoman said: “On September 25 enroute from Detroit to Amsterdam diverted to Manchester due to smoke in the cabin.

“The aircraft landed safely and Delta’s maintenance team quickly found the source and the aircraft was cleared to continue its journey. The flight arrived in Amsterdam at 2.55pm. The safety of passengers and crew is Delta’s number one priority.”
